Joseph Haydn's 'The Creation' Concert
On Saturday, 30 May (7.30pm), All Saints Church, Leek, will be hosting a special performance of Joseph Haydn’s choral masterpiece The Creation.
The concert will be led by the renowned Phoenix Singers, Leek, one of the leading choirs in the Staffordshire Moorlands, supported by the resonant sounds of a full, 27-strong orchestra. Directed by Ashley Thompson, the choir and orchestra will be joined by three fantastic young soloists from the Royal Northern College of Music.
This concert offers a unique opportunity to hear one of the greatest pieces of choral music performed by some top-tier musicians in the one of the most beautiful venues in Staffordshire: the only grade-I listed building in the historic market town of Leek, All Saints Church boasts stunning decorations by prominent figures of the Arts & Crafts movement (including William Morris, Edward Burne-Jones and Gerald Horsley), situated within the spacious interior and perfect acoustics of Norman Shaw’s uplifting architecture.
