Blaze at recycling site

Firefighters tackled a large blaze at a recycling facility in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Moores Metals on Chemical Lane in the early hours of tuesday morning.

Five crews were at the scene operating two water carriers.

Chemical Lane was closed, and nearby businesses were only accessible by foot.

People living nearby had been advised to keep doors and windows closed and to avoid the area.

Moores Metals recycles and processes scrap metal, and also batteries, waste electrical and electronic equipment, and end-of-life vehicles.
