Canal and River Trust says work has stopped on canal reconstruction

The Canal and River Trust says work has temporarily stopped on the reconstruction of the Llangollen canal embankment and that the Whitchurch arm would be closed to find and repair a further leak.

It comes after the canal was breached shortly before Christmas 2025 with 12 million litres of water flooding into a neighbouring field, taking with it thousands of fish.
