Cheshire Deputy Chief constable bridges gap till new one appointed

Cheshire's deputy chief constable Mike Evans will step up to fill the 'leadership gap' until a new top boss is appointed.

Mark Roberts announced last month he was retiring as chief constable after 33 years in policing.

Cheshire commissioner Dan Price said that all chief constables are appointed on a fixed term contract and that the advertisement for a new chief constable will be held at the end of the month
