Cheshire East council plans to sort out waste and recycling
Cheshire East Council has laid out its plans following missed and delayed bin collections in an attempt to get back on track with waste and recycling services.
Shortages of HGV drivers and loading staff, an increase in vehicle breakdowns, the impact of the recent hot weather on both our collection vehicles and our crews, and collection rounds that no longer reflect population growth have all played a part.
The council say the residents are their first priority and they are running a recruitment campaign filling 30 posts in the last few weeks. They’ve also carried out benchmarking over driver pay in an attempt to remain competitive in the market with apprenticeships to support roles.
