Chief exec steps down

08 Jun 2026

Cheshire East's chief executive Rob Polkinghorne who took up the role in January 2024, has left the council by mutual agreement after being absent for more than six months.

The council said earlier this year he had been 'unwell' since the end of last year.

Today the authority issued a statement saying: "Rob Polkinghorne and Cheshire East Council have mutually agreed that he will step down from his role as chief executive so he can focus on his family and future priorities.

The council will now begin recruitment for an interim chief executive.
