Civiie street cafe needs your help
Businesses and tradespeople are being asked to help build a new community café opening in Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre.
Tri-Services and Veterans Support Centre are set to open the new Civvie Street Café in the Ironmarket, which will also be a training space and social hub.
The idea was developed through Tri-Services’ work with the Armed Forces community, and the café aims to be a place where veterans, younger people, families and members of the community can meet, learn and feel like they belong.
Tri-Services representatives have put a call out asking businesses and tradespeople to help with setting up the café and get it up and running.
They are looking for supplies such as paint and decorating, furniture, catering equipment, tools and building supplies and timber, fixings and flooring.
Julie Billingham of Tri-Services Support Centre said: “We would be so grateful if there were skilled tradespeople who may be able to help us make our vision a reality.
“We want to create a welcoming community café in Newcastle, a place that also offers a training environment and room for learning, meetings and community activities.
“We have put together an artists’ impression of our vision which we hope will help anyone who is thinking of helping.
“We want it to be a place for everyone and welcome members of the wider community.
“Every donated item or hour of expertise brings opening day one step closer.”
