Council updates on plans for investing in Cheadle
MyActive Cheadle is set to benefit from a multi-million pound scheme to upgrade and refurbish the leisure centre, as the District Council re-affirmed its commitment to investing in improving the leisure centre.
The proposed improvements form part of the Council’s wider programme of investment in local leisure facilities and are designed to enhance the experience for both existing users and future generations.
The plans include:
- A brand-new fitness suite bringing together the two existing spaces
- A new dedicated, immersive indoor cycling studio
- A new, large additional group exercise studio
- A new active wellbeing suite focused on supporting people just starting out, being referred for exercise by their GP or health professional, or who might be recovering from surgery or illness
- Fully-refurbished wet-side changing facilities
Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, said: “We know MyActive Cheadle is much-loved and well used but is in need of investment, so I’m pleased to be able to update people on where we are with our plans to significantly refurbish and modernise the centre. We’re moving positively through the design phases and aim to be able to share some exciting images in a few weeks to illustrate what we’re planning and what people can expect from this upgrade. We’ll also be asking you for your feedback on the plans to help shape them before they are taken forwards. We’ll display the images in the centre and on our website and social media channels so watch this space and we look forward to hearing your views.”
