Duck and Boat race returns to Cheshire
A fun-filled afternoon for all ages is on the way as the popular Wistaston Duck Race and Model Boat Day returns today
The annual community event takes place at Joey the Swan parkland, behind the Wistaston sign on Church Lane.
Organised by volunteers from Wistaston Community News & Events, the free event promises an afternoon packed with entertainment, including adult and child model boat races, the ever-popular duck race, games and charity stalls.
Activities and stalls open at 1pm, with organisers reminding visitors to bring cash, as some of the smaller stalls and games are unable to accept card payments.
There will be a series of competitions throughout the afternoon, with prizes to be won. Children and adults are being encouraged to get creative and start building their model boats now before putting them through their paces on race day.
The programme includes:
- 1:45pm: Judging for the best homemade adult model boat, followed immediately by the adult model boat race (maximum boat size 30cm)
- 2.10pm: Judging for the best homemade children's model boat
- 2.30pm: Children's model boat race (maximum boat size 30cm). Entries will be accepted on the day before 2pm
- 3.15pm: The popular duck race, with ducks available to buy on the day for £2 each
