Fire caused accidentally by disposable BBQ

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service have said investigations have confirmed a fire which destroyed a number of houses and gardens in Stoke-on-Trent was caused accidentally by a disposable barbecue.

Four properties were lost in the blaze as dozens of people were evacuated from their homes.

Police said the man and woman previously arrested on suspicion of arson remained on bail while officers' inquiries continued.

Three of the four firefighters who were taken to hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion during the incident have since been discharged.
