Firefighter returns home

A firefighter has returned home after spending nearly two weeks in hospital, including a week in critical care, following the blaze in Sandyford in Stoke on Trent.

Although this is a positive step, he still has a journey of recovery ahead according to Staffordshire Fire & Rescue service. Six firefighters were taken to hospital after responding to the incident with five of them being discharged soon afterwards.

The incident was a reminder of how quickly fires can spread during prolonged periods of hot, dry weather.
