Fires lead to road closures

Firefighters rescued four kittens from a blaze in a Tunstall building. A total of six fire engines - including the aerial ladder platform - ended up being deployed as a 'large' fire saw part of High Street shut. Meanwhile huge plumes of smoke were seen for miles after a fire broke out at a chicken farm in Cheshire. Firefighters were called to the blaze at The Grange on Checkley Lane near Bridgemere. Ten fire engines were sent to the scene and residents nearby were urged to keep their doors and windows closed, due to the large amount of smoke.
