Funding for war memorials
Efforts to create two permanent war memorials in a Stoke-on-Trent town, are set to benefit from £45,000 of funding.
The funding - part of the Government's Pride in Place programme - has been allocated towards the Burslem Remembers project, which is researching, designing and delivering two memorial projects in the town.
One of these projects is the completion of the Burslem Cenotaph, by adding ten stone tablets with the names of more than 1,600 people from the town who lost their lives in war.
Another memorial, recognises the lives of Royal Doulton workers who died in the First and Second World Wars.
The physical construction of the new Royal Doulton Memorial, along with the foundations for the memorials, are being funded separately by Miller Homes.
