Fundraising campaign to save historic Cheshire church

A fundraising campaign to bring in £1m has been launched to help St Mary’s Church in Astbury, but it’s the only the tip of the iceberg to stop it falling down.  

The vestry wall is leaning at an alarming angle, the steeple is badly rusted, and it seems likely the church could be added to Historic England's Heritage At Risk Register.

Last year, the church had to close for three months in an attempt to slash its energy bills and was supported with its fundraising by singer Russell Watson who lives nearby.
