Illegal waste dump in Middlewich

Police have arrested two men in connection with alleged illegal waste dumping at a farm in Middlewich.

The Environment Agency contacted Cheshire Police for help with an arrest as part of an investigation into a large-scale illegal waste site at a farm on Coal Pit Lane.

Two men aged 69 and 37 were arrested at the farm on suspicion of waste offences They have both been bailed. 

The site includes large amounts of green garden waste, construction waste, plastics, tyres, shredded waste, and mixed household waste.

All the waste has been dumped on farmland close to the River Wheelock, a tributary of the River Dane
