Investigation launched after thieves target key safe

09 May 2026

Police are investigating after two cars were stolen in Newcastle-under-Lyme after a key safe was targeted by suspected thieves.

At 6.30am this morning, officers were called to Park Avenue, Wolstanton, after two cars were taken from the driveway of a house. The suspects had forced their way into a key safe on a side wall to gain entry to the home.

One of the cars, a Peugeot, was found abandoned and damage further down the road.

The second car, a BMW, was found on Dentdale Close, Meir.

Police believe two suspects were walking along Park Avenue at about 2.50am towards the home before the burglary took place.

Anyone with any information is asked to get in touch by calling 101 or using Live Chat on our website, quoting incident 111 of 8 May.

To report anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Officers are urging people who have a key safe to remove the keys, if possible, or relocate the safes to another area which is not near the front or back doors. Sadly, thieves may be looking to exploit key safes and take advantage of them in order to get inside people’s homes.
