Man stabbed on Stafford golf course.

A man in his 60s is in a critical condition after he was stabbed on a golf course.

Police said they were called to Newport Road in Stafford, on Thursday evening.

The man was walking on a public footpath through the golf course in the Castlefields area of the town, when he was approached from behind.

He was found on a bench by a member of the public who raised the alarm and the victim was taken to hospital.

His condition has been described as "critical but stable”.
