Man to appear in court after suspect explosive device found at home

A man has been charged after a police search led to the discovery of what was thought to be an explosive device, which meant nearby houses had to be evacuated.

Police initially arrested 47 year old Ian Mitchell, from Nantwich, following reports of dangerous driving in Crewe. 

While he was in custody a search was carried out of an address in Nantwich, and officers discovered what was believed to be a small improvised explosive device, which was assessed and deemed to be safe. He will appear in Crewe Magistrates court in February
