Millions of pounds worth of funding for 16-18 education
The government has given a £34 million boost for 16 - 18 learning in Staffordshire.
The county was successful in securing the money for projects across Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group, Burton and South Derbyshire College and South Staffordshire College, with £26.6m being promised for building and creating new facilities.
Meanwhile Stoke on Trent college has secured over £6million to help meet the growing demand for further education and technical skills across the city. It comes at a time when the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham has announced that mayors will be handed control of sixth form funding in a radical break from Englands Whitehall run post 16 education system.
