MyActive Cheadle refurbishment delays
MyActive Cheadle will remain open for the remainder of 2026 while Staffordshire Moorlands District Council takes additional time to review plans for a major refurbishment of the town's leisure centre.
The Council's Cabinet needs time to consider this and the financial implications. It will discuss the next steps for investment at its meeting in December, but for now it is business as usual. A Leisure Working Group chaired by Cheadle councillor, Councillor Ian Plant, is overseeing the plans to modernise and upgrade the centre.
In July the Council carried out a major public engagement exercise on its plans for the leisure centre, accepting that the facility is ageing and needs investment. The plans include a new fitness suite, a new immersive indoor cycling studio, a new large additional group exercise studio, a fully-refurbished four-court sports hall, a new active wellbeing suite, and fully refurbished wet and dry changing facilities.
