Nicholson institute prepares for opening.
Work to upgrade the museum, art gallery and library, and return the lower ground floor to use, at Leek’s landmark Nicholson Institute is now complete.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has led the project using funding from the Government as part of the wider regeneration of Leek which has also seen significant investment in the redevelopment of the health and wellbeing centre, MyActive Leek, and the rejuvenation of the indoor markets.
The work at the Nicholson will:
- Return the lower ground floor to use as an arts studio
- Re-imagine the museum space on the upper floor to create exciting new visitor experiences
- Re-design the library to create a modern, inviting experience
The Nicholson Institute has now been handed back to Staffordshire County Council, who hold it in trust, so preparations can be made for an autumn re-opening
