Police appeal for witnesses to hit and run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a child suffered a head injury when struck by a car while crossing the road in a hit-and-run collision. 

The crash happened on Clayton Road, Newcastle-under-Lyme, near to Clayton Hall Academy, on Friday evening, The child was taken to hospital with a head and leg injury. 

The small black car drove off towards Newcastle Road, in the direction of M6 motorway, following the non-stop collision. 

Anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage was urged to get in touch with police or call Crimestoppers anonymously.
