Shelton man sent to prison for ten years

A man has been jailed for a decade after he hit a pedestrian with his car in Stoke-on-Trent.

Brwa Abdulla, 19, from Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced to ten years behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday..

He previously admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was found guilty of Section 18 – wounding with intent.

At around 6.30pm on 4 August last year, Abdulla was sitting in his blue BMW on College Road, Shelton. When he spotted the victim, a teenage boy, Adbulla drove his car at speed, colliding with the victim at the junction with Beresford Road.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Abdulla drove away but went back to the scene later that day and was arrested after presenting himself to officers.

Detective Constable Spencer Arnold, of CID north, said: “This was a targeted attack which left the victim with serious injuries.As well as being jailed for a decade, Abdulla has also been disqualified from driving for almost 12 years. I am glad he has received a significant custodial sentence for his reckless and dangerous actions.”
