Special connection across the miles

A city in Spain shares a special connection with Stafford, stretching back over 35 years.

Tarragona, located in north-eastern Spain's Catalonia region, has been twinned with Stafford since 1990.

The city has a large number of Roman remains including an amphitheatre, the Praetorium and the Les Ferreres Aqueduct.

There is also 15km of stunning coastline with sandy beaches and a medieval cathedral.

The Stafford and Tarragona Twinning Association gives local people the chance to visit the historic city with regular trips taking place each year
