Tributes to Stoke on Trent champion

Loved-ones and community leaders have led tributes to a ‘champion’ of Stoke-on-Trent. Doug Wardle, aged 92, passed away from cancer at the Dougie Mac earlier this month. The legendary businessman was well-known for founding companies across the Potteries - including Wardle Transport and Wardle Travel. Doug also campaigned for Stoke-on-Trent as a member of the City Centre Partnership and the Institute of Travel and Tourism.

Now loved-ones are preparing to give Doug a ‘fabulous send-off’ on Monday at Norton Community Church at 1pm followed by a celebration of his life at Brown Edge Village Hall.
