Why/how did you become involved in radio?
I got given a radio one Christmas when I was very young and remember listening to the likes of Tony Blackburn & Kenny Everett who influenced me a lot. I knew from then that’s what I wanted to do when I grew up. My mum and dad insisted I have a proper career so I trained as an electrician, IT technician & Electronics engineer but the lore of Radio was too strong so I applied to work in radio and found my technical background tied in with skills in radio behind the scenes, it all came together.
What is your most memorable radio moment so far?
I once interviewed a local MP on the air who had a prolific position in the government. The interview itself wasn’t so bad but having armed guards in black suits in the studio & surrounding the building made it awkward, especially when one was watching me like a hawk through the studio window constantly.
What is the song that ‘lifts your day?’
Pharrell Williams – Happy
How are you feeling about joining the Blue Sky team?
Really exciting times ahead. Will be good to work with some old friends again and of course some of the local legends I grew up listening to. It feels like somewhere I belong.
What is it you like about our local area (North Staffs and South Cheshire)?
The area is central to everything you need. Within 2 hours you can be by the sea or find something for leisure like a historic place to visit or a quiet walk in the forest. It’s got everything on it’s doorstep just a trip down the road.
Is there a fun fact about you we could add?
I once applied for the Voice UK.
