About Pete Morgan
Why/how did you become involved in radio?
When I was very small - and the world was in black and white - I wanted to work in music. Then, one day I met Paul Carrington - and I realised that I actually wanted to work in radio.
Like many radio presenters, I cut my teeth making cups of tea and doing silly voices in the background of various radio shows. I was 20 when I was offered my first show; a late night show in North Wales.
What is your most memorable radio moment so far?
It would have to be when I met Sir Paul McCartney. I interviewed him in his dressing room - and I could barely speak.
He, of course, was the consummate professional and put me right at my ease.
The annoying thing is - this was before camera phones, so there’s no photographic evidence that this ever happened!
What is the song that ‘lifts your day?’
“Where Is My Husband?” By Raye. We are a very ‘sing’ household and Mrs Morgan and I will often spend time just belting out tunes.
This one has become a particular favourite. I love the energy of it, and how much Raye manages to squeeze in to a song that barely scrapes past 3 minutes!
Outside of Raye - anything by Prince! He’s my absolute fave.
How are you feeling about being part of the Blue Sky team?
I am absolutely over the moon to be a part of this incredible team and station.
I’m very lucky that I’ve known a lot of the presenters for years and years - so it’s just like spending time with friends, which is what good radio should be!
What is it you like about our local area (North Staffs and South Cheshire)?
In my career I’ve moved all over - Manchester, Bournemouth, North Wales, Brighton, Birmingham - but there’s something about this area that just draws me back.
I love the people. So much so that I have to add on time when I’m going out shopping because I know that I’ll end up nattering away to someone or other!
Fun fact!
I think that everyone knows that my uncle was Jack Duckworth from Coronation Street, so I’ll have to go with the fact that I am a pretty decent spare room drummer. I’ve had a drum kit for most of my life, and there’s nothing I like better than taking some time out to have a good bash at the drums!
