Middlesbrough will face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final, while Liverpool will play Fulham in the other last-four tie.
The draw was made after Liverpool thrashed West Ham by a 5-1 score in their quarter-final clash at Anfield on Wednesday night.
With Jurgen Klopp’s side and Chelsea kept apart in the draw, it opens the door for a repeat of the 2022 final where Liverpool won 11-10 on penalties.
It was a record ninth League Cup triumph for Liverpool, who will host Premier League rivals Fulham in the first leg of the semi-final during the week of January 8 before they face a trip to Craven Cottage two weeks later.
Meanwhile, Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough will welcome Chelsea to Riverside Stadium first and visit Stamford Bridge a fortnight later during the week of January 22 trying to reach only their fourth ever League Cup final.
