Why/how did you become involved in radio?

My love of music has always been a big part of my life. From the moment I turned my mother’s breadbin into a makeshift record player there was  never any doubt that I’d end up ‘on the radio’!

My radio ‘break’ came when I sent a tape of one of my hospital radio shows to a local station  and somehow wound up being trusted with the graveyard shift….. it all blossomed from there into mid-mornings,  breakfast shows, media management, a stint in the North East….. and now Blue Sky Radio.

What is your most memorable radio  moment so far?

Listening to Noel Edmunds – possibly one of the most underrated radio personalities.  Noel had been pretending to keep hens for a while and simply played his ‘chickens’ sound effect over the start of Minnie Ripperton’s “Loving you” – which begins with birdsong – saying  “Ooh, listen to the little birdies in the garden!” I was absolutely helpless with laughter -and missed the school bus!   and THAT’S when I realised the power of radio; the way in which one can broadcast to thousands of people yet still have a perfect ‘one to one’ connection

What is the song that ‘lifts your day?’

“Li’l Star” by Kelis and Ce-lo Green, my favourite song of self affirmation. I sometimes don’t believe in myself and the lyrics really speak to me. “There is nothing special about me….. I am just a little star”!  The only problem I have with playing it on the radio is that it sometimes brings a little tear to my eye.

How are you feeling about joining the Blue Sky team?

I am incredibly lucky to be part of a fabulous team both on and off air who have worked tirelessly to bring Blue Sky Radio to life.  Our presenters know the local area and our listeners are at the heart of everything we do. We have an amazing catalogue of songs to lift your day so let’s enjoy Blue Sky Radio together!

What is it you like about our local area (North Staffs and South Cheshire)?

Everything! I have lived here for most of my life and shared so many wonderful radio moments here – it is great to be back on-air!

Fun fact!

Doug Wood is one of my radio heroes, he has the ability to make me howl with laughter – I was fortunate to work with him for many years.
